Killarney National Park is to be listed as an area of sensitivity by the Irish Aviation Authority. The listing means that aircraft operators including helicopters, are requested to avoid the site where possible. Low flying aircraft are particularly targetted because of noise and other environmental reasons. The National Park will not become a no fly zone, but will be listed alongside the prohibited zones in the Internationally recognised pilots handbook.
