HBO Mafia show The Sopranos, which came to a controversial end last year, could return as a feature film.

Nick D’Urso, the manager of the strip club that doubled as the show’s Bada Bing bar, has revealed he won’t be making any renovations to his establishment as producers want to re-use the location for a Sopranos movie. Speaking to local New Jersey paper The Record, Satin Dolls manager D’Urso said: “I got an inside tip that they’re going to do a movie, so I don’t want to make any major changes.

“I’m not going to reveal my sources, but we got a call from somebody [working] on the script.”

A spokeswoman for HBO refused to comment on D’Urso’s claims.

First episode preview of new season Greys Anatomy

This is a preview of the first episode of Greys Anatomy, which starts Thursday Sept 24th on ABC.

Wedbush Morgan have been making some dramatic new predictions this morning, the firm noting that a Wii HD release by the end of 2010 could put an end to Sony’s hopes of a PS3 fightback.

According to the report, Money for Nothing: How Ancillary Revenues Can Extend The Console Cycle, the analysts expect a revised Wii console to arrive within the next 18 months or so, incorporating MotionPlus into its controller, alongside specifications similar to the Xbox 360.

“We would expect such a console to be fully backward compatible with the current Wii, but would expect the new console to have additional features and functionality,” reads the report, predicting a name similar to ‘Wii Plus’.

The appearance of an HD Wii could serious hurt Sony’s efforts with the PS3, we’re told: “In our view, if Nintendo can offer such a device by year-end 2010, it will be in a position to seriously damage Sony’s chances of a comeback this cycle. We would expect publishers to support such a move, given that the cost of porting an Xbox 360 game to the new Wii Plus HD format would likely be lower than the cost of building a ground up Wii game (we estimate under 5 million USD).”

RTÉ have announced that Ryan Tubridy will be the host of the Late Late show from the autumn

Aspiring entrepreneurs will be rushing to update their CVs and dust off their power suits, with the news that hit series ‘The Apprentice’ is once again looking for willing victims.

“The second series takes place in a different world, an Ireland where the Celtic Tiger has gone and left us with an economy in serious difficulties,” said Bill Cullen, speaking at the launch yesterday.

The Dubliner, famed for his aggressive boardroom style, said the Government should take a leaf out of his book to help speed up recovery. “Fianna Fail is very unpopular at the moment, and they’re probably well aware they won’t be re-elected. “So if I was them, I would use this chance to make some hard decisions and take some tough action in the public sector — people won’t thank them for it, but they have nothing to lose now,” said Mr Cullen. He stressed that a positive attitude is crucial.

The second series of ‘The Apprentice’ will air in the autumn and those interested have until May 8 to lodge an application.

One of the most popular crime novel series is to be made into a movie, and possibly an on-going franchise. It has been announced that Angelina Jolie will play the part of Kay Scarpetta in a movie adaptation of the best selling Patricia Cornwell series.

Angelina Jolie has landed a role in another suspense thriller – as a crime-solving medical examiner in a new film based on Patricia Cornwell’s best-selling novels.

Jolie has signed on to play the title character from Cornwell’s 16-novel series about forensic examiner Dr. Kay Scarpetta – a woman with a messy love life who solves crime and loves the opera.

According to Variety, the film will not focus on a specific Cornwell title. But insiders say the deal could mean the start of a new franchise for the actress – who had her last series success with ‘Lara Croft: Tomb Raider’.

The thriller is the latest in a string of crime-fighting characters for Jolie, who’s starred in action films including ‘Wanted’, ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’ and ‘Gone in 60 Seconds’.

Studio bosses have yet to line up a screenwriter or director for the new film.
