Sky’s latest interim results show that it continues to attract subscribers to its Sky HD service. The number of people subscribing to Sky HD in the second half of 2007 was up 18% to 422,000 — a rise of 64,000 new subscribers.

19% of those signups were new Sky customers, with the majority being existing Sky subscribers adding to or changing their service.

Sky’s high definition service was awarded a "Raising The Bar Award" at the Royal Television Society Innovation Awards 2007, for "introducing a technology which set a new ‘gold standard’ of expectations".

In a move which could be seen as an act of desperation (though of course, that’s just speculation), Microsoft has cut the US price of the HD DVD drive for Xbox 360 again. Its retail price is now just $129.99, with reports of some online stores selling it even cheaper.

No official word (as far as I’m aware) about exactly why Microsoft has chosen to cut the price again. Either they really believe in the format, or they’re selling off remaining stock before they introduce something else.

Also, nothing for the UK/Ireland yet, though a Microsoft official has said that the price drop will also come to Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, so there’s hope. Hope, that is, if you actually still want one of these drives.

The bash-fest that is Super Smash Bros. Brawl has been out in the wild for a few short days, and the fanboys have been busy. They’re not content to just play it, they want to wring every last bit of nerdglee they can from the experience.

This video documents all the finishing moves from all the characters (including the hidden ones), some of which look pretty spectacular. If, however, you want to preserve the mystery for yourself… Well, best give it a miss eh?
